Coffee carts: we just love ’em. So much outstanding coffee history has run through the humble cart set-up, from major early influences on specialty coffee culture like Monorail Espresso and Espresso Vivace in Seattle, to 2009 World Barista Champion Gwilym Davies’ humble cart in London, to Drip Coffee’s Nigel Price, who rose from a humble cart in Brooklynย to open an incredible brick and mortar, nabbing a Sprudgie Award in the process.
We get excited when there’s a new coffee cart to check out as part of Build-Outs, so without further ado let’s check the wheels on Synergy Coffee, a coffee cart in Greenville, South Carolina opened in summer 2020.

For those who arenโt familiar, will you tell us about your company?
We are driven by a believe that coffee brings people together.ย Our goal is to create space for people to connect over coffee wherever they want.ย We created a coffee cart to make connecting over coffee easier by bringing it to you!
We are small, local to Greenville/Taylors, SC, and we work closely with local coffee roasters to bring the best quality coffee to our guest all across the upstate.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
Our new coffee bar/cart was designed with connection in mind. We wanted our bar to be a tool to draw people in and then connect them with those around them. Our simple, elegant, and portable design serves guest by eliminating distraction and encouraging conversation.
Whatโs your approach to coffee?
KISS – Keep is simple stupid. We believe coffee should be kept simple. Not every guest wants to understand and have fun experimenting with all the fun complexities that can go into coffee. If our guests want to learn more about coffee we start by simply teaching them how to brew a decent cup of drip for themselves. Good coffee can be brewed anywhere if you know how to work with a few variables.
Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?
We run two La Marzocco GS3s on our coffee cart. We do this to increase efficiency and decrease wait time for our guests.
How is your project considering sustainability?
In an effort to run a more sustainable coffee cart we use eco friendly/recycled cups. We compost as much used coffee as we can. And we are making an effort to make ceramic mugs available to our guests.
