It’s been a particularly PERC-y summer here on the Build-Outs of Coffee, as we bring to you this season’s second new cafe from PERC Coffee of Georgia. This location is in Tucker, in the suburbs east of Atlanta just beyond the I-285 perimeter (OTP). PERC’s vivid, colorful approach to cafe design is on full display with this new location. Let’s learn more!
The 2024 Build-Outs of Coffee is presented by Ceado and Dona. The 2024 Build-outs of Coffee is sponsored by Pacific Barista Series, La Marzocco, Acaia, and Ghirardelli.
As told to Sprudge by Philip Brown.
For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?
Panther’s Eye Roasting Company started in Savannah, GA, in 2010. It became clear we needed a shorter name, and luckily, the acronym PERC worked great. Back then, it was a one-person show, with a roaster, a dream, and a stereo cranked up real loud. These days, we have six retail locations and are over 100 strong. Our mission is to share good times and awesome coffee with people at every step of your coffee journey. We are growing a business rooted in passion, excellence, hospitality, inclusion, and, most of all, fun.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
The new location is a bright, inviting space designed to make you feel welcome. From the start, you’re greeted by a super-fun mural on the front of the building. We created an outdoor space by moving the front of the building back and adding fully retractable windows. The party continues inside with brightly painted walls, upbeat music, a fun atmosphere, and a fantastic team of coffee pros ready with all the warmth and hospitality you can handle.
We have all the classic coffee shop drinks and fun signature drinks, like the Good Times Latte. A latte with house-made lavender-vanilla syrup and a dash of habanero sugar on top, it’s a must-try. We always have four single-origin coffee options: a mild, wild, decaf, and a limited release. The mild, wild, and decaf are offered as drip, flash, and espresso, and the limited as manual brew. You can try them all with the coffee flight!
Our food menu has something for everyone. In the bake case, we have tasty treats like donuts and pastries. We have smaller dishes like granola and lox bagel. If you want something more substantial, we have the Egg n’ Cheese Sandwich and the super-scrumptious Breakfast Crunchwrap.
I’m super excited about the PERC party in Tucker and everyone is invited.
What’s your approach to coffee?
We believe awesome coffee should be both approachable and a ton of fun. We only source, roast, and share coffees we’re totally bananas about. We make personal connections with people through a heaping helping of hospitality to break through any barriers folks may have with specialty coffee. Importantly, everyone is invited to the party—let’s do shots!
Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?
We use La Marzocco Linea PB with scales, AeroPress, Mazzer grinders, and Curtis brewers. We brew rare limited-release coffees as manual brews that change twice monthly.
What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?
May 8th.
Are you working with craftspeople, architects, and/or creatives that you’d like to mention?
Our creative lead, Braddy the Baddy, designed the space in-house with owners Philip Brown and Amber Foreman. We work closely with our GC, Tom Pelletier, and our muralist, Chris Sturdivant.
Thank you!
