There’s never been a better time to be a brewer of coffee. Cone shapes, flat beds, immersions, percolators, variable flow rate apertures, sous vide: the number of ways to pass water through coffee grounds seems to grow on a near daily basis. With so many options out there, it’s difficult for a new brew device to get noticed. Unless it is as striking as the BRO, that is, the gorgeous new cone brewer from Crooked Nose & Coffee Stories in Lithuania.

Designed by Emanuelis Ryklys, the founder of the Vilnius-based coffee shop, the BRO was in development for nearly a year before being released late last month at the greenhouse of Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. Ryklys’ idea was to make a uniquely Lithuanian brewer, which for him meant using local woods and linen in the device’s construction. The result is a beautiful piece of brewing equipment, that while meant to represent Lithuania, would feel perfectly at home at any Scandinavian cafe or for sale on the Kurasu website.

The BRO costs €65 and is available for purchase at Crooked Nose & Coffee Stories. Or if you don’t live in Vilnius but would still like to add this beauty to your brewing arsenal, you can email hello@crooked-nose.com to work out shipping arrangements. For more information, check out the BRO Facebook page.
