La Marzocco have been on a collaborative heater for a while now. From limited edition clothing capsules with German brand Lodenfrey to an espresso-machine focused Swiss army knife with Victronix, La Marzocco’s eye-popping work extends well beyond espresso machines at this point. And the collaborations continue, this time in the form of a new barista apron designed alongside Danish lifestyle brand Rains.
Rains is perhaps best known for their technical ware, their Scandinavian minimalist weatherproof apparel in particular. And it’s in this same vein that the new apron comes. Crafted from “Rains’ signature technical fabric,” the espresso-colored knee-height apron includes minimal adornments, just the two brand’s logos on the top-most pocket. It also features two snap-enclosed pockets as well as three snaps down the front that can open for better movement.
The result is functional simplicity.
There’s something interesting about objects that are highly functional and, over time, become beloved cultural objects,” Rains co-founder Philip Lotko states. “La Marzocco has achieved that with their espresso machine. With this collaboration we wanted to respect that icon and bring it into the Rains universe through our own approach to materiality and simplicity.”
La Marzocco’s Andrea Cobianci concurs. “When two iconic brands with a shared appreciation for minimal design and timeless functionality come together, the result feels both natural and unexpected.”
To celebrate the collaboration, Officine Fratelli Bambi has created a hyper-minimal bespoke espresso machine. It will live at Rains’ Copenhagen flagship store, which will be “ transformed into a temporary coffee experience destination celebrating design, hospitality, and everyday rituals.” Attendees will be treated to “a menu of weather-inspired signature coffee drinks alongside classic espresso beverages, curated by Copenhagen specialty coffee roaster La Cabra.”
The limited edition barista apron is available now for purchase via La Marzocco and Rains. For more information, visit La Marzocco’s official website.
