The World of Coffee San Diego events calendar is filling up! On site, off site, the inaugural US World of Coffee née Expo is going to be jam packed with things to keep you caffeinated for the entirety of the extended weekend. And of course your friends at Sprudge will have an expansive compendium of all the goings on here in the near future so keep an eye out for that.
But if you are looking for an event that’s not really an event but is an event and also goes home with you, then look no further than the Legendary Coffee Exchange. The Cafe Imports mega coffee swap returns and brings with it a chance to win a brand new espresso machine.
The Legendary Coffee Exchange, which began back in 2021 during the stay-at-home days of the COVID-19 pandemic, was created as a means for roasters to connect and taste each other’s coffee together (online). The event was so popular that even after restrictions were lifted, the Exchange remained. Now in its fifth in-person installation, Cafe Imports knows well enough not to mess with a good thing, and the Legendary Coffee Exchange keeps with what made it so great to begin with.
It works like this. Roasters bring a of their of own roasted coffee of their choosing—preferably 8–16oz of single origin coffee—along with two business cards, to be dropped off Friday or Saturday, April 10th and 11th, at the Cafe Imports booth (#3140). The coffee and one of the business cards will be given to your swap partner, whose coffee and business card will be given to you; Cafe Imports will facilitate it all. Then, post-WoC, you and your swapmate will take home the coffees to brew and work out a time to connect and discuss, perhaps even set up a virtual cupping together. The rest is up to you!
The other business card will be put into a drawing for a chance to win a Fellow Espresso Series 1 espresso machine. The winner will be randomly selected live on Instagram at 10:00am April 12th and will leave WoC with their new gear.
And as always, the Legendary Coffee Exchange is completely free to take part. You can reserve your spot via Eventbrite, which can be done here. Or you can simply show up with a coffee and a few business cards (if you don’t have business cards, Cafe Imports will have paper on hand for you to write down your info) and get singed up at the booth.
