As of today, Friday, April Question Mark 2020, more than 300 million Americans—indeed, more than 3 billion people worldwide—are living in a state of pandemic lockdown, in an effort to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 virus. Lives are at stake, and millions are out of work, especially those in the hospitality industry: restaurant workers, cafe owners, and baristas are among the hardest hit.

We’ve put together two polls for you to check out today—this one is for baristas, and the other is for home coffee drinkers. We’re polling baristas today because they are the lifeblood of the coffee industry through which all goodness flows. They are also among the most deeply vulnerable at this moment, and many are looking at the coffee industry through a transformed point of view here in the midst of a global pandemic.

Baristas far and wide, please fill out this form, and then we need your help. We want as much data as we can get here so that next we can present it to a wide bank of sources, so please—share this post with everyone you know. Share it with your co-workers, past, present, and future; please also consider sharing it with your online communities. We want to know how baristas are doing right now, what the unemployment process has been like, what might be coming next for you, and how the wider industry can support you at this time.

Thank you for reading, thank you for filling out this poll, and thanks especially for sharing this post.
