Several Sprudge readers have reached out to us over the last few days to voice their support for Matt Call, a Minneapolis barista who recently suffered serious injuries in a hit and run accident. There’s a lot of kind words and calls for action coming from the MPLS specialty coffee community, and we want to use this post to amplify that sentiment and provide an immediate way for you to help, wherever you are in the world.

First and foremost, please read this homepage for Matt Call on the website Live Letters. From the listing:

A lot of people has been asking how they can help, as itโ€™s going to be at least 3 months before he can even walk again. A benefit is currently being planned and will be announced shortly, but weโ€™d like to provide Matt with support immediately so he can focus on his recovery instead of worrying about finances.

Below that is a Paypal link, as well as a Facebook-integrated comments section for you to voice your written support in a place that’s being checked regularly by the Call family. Matt Call is also on Twitter – follow him here – and is able to check it from the ICU, so please feel free to tweet your support to him there. There are regular updates being posted to his feed, some from his girlfriend Missy Morken, and some from Matt himself.

The driver who hit and run Matt Call is still at large, and the Minneapolis Police Department are actively searching for him. The crime happened atย  Lyndale Avenue South and 24th Street in South Minneapolis at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday night. The car that hit Matt is a black Jeep Cherokee with grey trim.
