The Bay Area Latte Art Competition cycle concludes this evening at Four Barrel Coffee in the Mission District (375 Valencia). The Bay Area Coffee Community has been organizing these monthly latte art throw-downs since January 2013. Tonight’s will feature a Bay versus Los Angeles showdown, where latte artists (like famed barista Runei Matsumoto of Coffee Tomo) from the LATNT contingent will fly up.
The question on everyone’s lips? Who will be crowned this season’s top latte artist? Things are looking good for cycle finalists Leslie Ruckman (Bellano Coffee), Taylere Yamamura (Saint Frank Coffee), and Selina Viguera (Blue Bottle Coffee), while underdog Dufus Von Twattington (Independent) is woefully behind.
Thousands of dollars worth of prizes include a UNIC Rumba Home Espresso Machine, sweet Baratza grinders, admission to Barista Camp, awesome Espresso Parts trophies, and an exclusive featurette on Sprudge.com.
The event starts tonight at 6PM and will include loud music from DJ Sprudge. It is free and open to the public. There will be Mirror Pond Pale Ale flowing.
