For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?
Elemental Coffee is a small-batch roastery in Oklahoma City, OK. We source, sample, import, roast, and deliver the finest coffees available, with extra care to embrace the individuality and highlight the unique characteristics of each offering. From the sourcing to the roasting, we take care each step of the way so that by the time the coffee hits your cup, you’re getting the highest quality, and enjoying your coffee exactly as it’s meant to be. Elemental Coffee is a cafe at the corner of Hudson and NW 8th Street in Midtown, Oklahoma City. We strive to source locally and sustainably, with a universally designed menu for all eaters: vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, and omnivores. Breakfast, lunch, and pastries.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
Our new location at SW 24th and Robinson in Oklahoma City brings Elemental into a new part of town with two projects: Elemental owned and operated 2,700-square-foot warehouse and roasting facility opening July 2024, and our new licensed shop, Elemental @ Capitol Co-Op, owned and operated by Chad Hodges, opened May 13, 2024. We are delighted to impact a new community and expand our reach in OKC. Our current roasting facility is housed at our original cafe in 500 square feet. We can’t wait to expand into the new space and take advantage of having all the space we need to maximize our bean storage and inventory
What’s your approach to coffee?
Part of our broader approach of keeping coffee accessible to as many people as we can is through our omni-roast approach. Instead of roasting specifically for one style of brewing coffee such as espresso or drip, we roast most of our coffees not too dark, not too light, but right in that sweet spot in the middle. We want our coffee to taste great no matter how a cup is brewed up. Throughout the year, we procure a rotating selection of offerings. We have three year-round blends as well as a natural processed Ethiopian Sidama Ardi. Additionally, we bring in at least one exceptional quality offering quarterly. Typically, this is a small lot of a highly sought after variety or has been processed in an experimental method.
Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up? How is your project considering sustainability? What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?
July 2024
