Breaking news here exclusively on Sprudge.com: Intelligentsia top staff members Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski have amicably notified the company of impending plans to open a boutique cafe in the Los Angeles area. Mr. Glanville is currently Intelligentsia’s Director of Retail for the LA area, and Mr. Babinski is a Store Educator for Intelligentsia’s Silver Lake location; with the full blessing of Intelligentsia, both gentlemen will begin work on their new project in earnest starting this July.
Sprudge.com spoke exclusively with Mr. Babinksi, who revealed to us that plans for this new cafe are still very much in their early stages. The cafe itself will be in Los Angeles, with Echo Park indicated as an area of keen interest for the duo, though a space has not been settled as of yet. As far as a name for the new cafe, Mr. Babinski told Sprudge, “Kyle and I are still working on that. It’s not something we’re necessarily ready to have out there yet.”
Though these and other details for their new cafe as yet still tentative, Mr. Babinski was quite sure of one particular: “It’s important that people know we will be a wholesale customer for Intelligentsia.” Mr. Babinski continued, “I have loved working with Intelligentsia for many reasons, and one is because they honestly have some of the best coffees in the world. Once we have our own cafe, I know we’d be foolish not to buy from them.”
