Counter Culture Coffee Opens In LA, Three More Cities Planned For 2016

Durham, North Carolina’s Counter Culture Coffee continues its westward expansion, announcing via press release that its Los Angeles training center is set to open later this week. This is 11^th city nationwide to be home to a Counter Culture training facility. Also announced in the press release: the roaster is planning to training centers in three more cities by the end of 2016, with openings slated for Seattle, WA; Dallas, TX; and Miami, FL.

The Los Angeles Training Center is located at 1601 Griffith Park Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, in a building re-designed by up-and-coming boutique architecture firm Design, Bitches. As a community hub for coffee professionals and the public alike, the L.A. Training Center features the latest in coffee brewing technology and will offer unparalleled educational opportunities in dedicated coffee training labs. The roaster’s LA support team will offer their innovative Counter Intelligence program — including hands-on courses and certification programs for coffee professionals — with the goal of empowering each person throughout the coffee supply chain. Counter Culture Coffee is served in top cafes and restaurants around the country, chosen as the featured roaster by chefs and cafe owners who prioritize seasonality and quality in their coffee service, and who also recognize the need for a roaster to provide ongoing training and support in coffee brewing methods and technology.

The training center will be open to the public every Friday at 10am for a free weekly tasting known as Tasting @ Ten, which is held in all of their training centers nationwide and which will kick off in L.A. beginning Friday, July 22. They also offer a Brewing Basics course to the public, a hands-on class that explores the essentials for brewing great coffee at home. Counter Culture L.A. will invite the public in to celebrate their opening at an open house on Saturday, July 16, offering coffee brewing demonstrations and food from local partners.

The new Counter Culture Los Angeles training center is located at 1601 Griffith Park Boulevard, just off Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake.
