Oxo, the company whose Good Grips Soap Dispensing Palm Brush is a must-have for any kitchen, debuted a brand-new line of plug-in products at the 2015 International Home + Housewares Show this month. The company, founded in 1990 and headquartered in New York City, previewed blenders, mixers, and two coffee brewers that have got tech blogs buzzing.

The name of the new coffee machines? Barista Brains.

At first glance, with its tall hot water beaker and stainless steel carafe, the automatic brewer looks an awful lot like the Technivorm Moccamaster. At $299, it enters the market at a similar price point. One innovation we’re kind of geeking out about is the brewer’s hot water chamber. CNET reports the component is removable and can be used as a pourable hot water kettle. IT’S A BREWER KETTLE COMBO, Y’ALL!

Oxo will introduce the 12-Cup Barista Brain in the US market in the fourth quarter this year. The machine will be priced at $299. A smaller version, without the removable kettle, will serve 2–7 cups and is priced at $200.

Oxo also introduced a conical burr grinder with integrated scale for $200.

According to CNET, Oxo expects to receive the Golden Cup award for brewing excellence from the Specialty Coffee Association of America sometime this summer. Not likely, says us, as the SCAA has suspended the program as of December 2014 for retooling.

This, like most things in this life, is developing…
