As a sweet treat, the Klondike Bar really shouldn’t work. The ice cream in the middle is somehow almost dry; the thin chocolate coating bursts into a million ready-to-melt shards upon first touch; the bizarre foil wrapper is the stuff of 20th century landfill nightmares.

And yet the Klondike Bar is the perfect frozen treat.

Or at least I thought it was, until learning it could be improbably be made even more perfect thanks to the addition of coffee. As reported by Delish, Klondike Wake Me Up Coffee Donuts are heading to your local freezer aisle this month.

Wake Me Up Coffee is the fourth and newest flavor in Klondike’s donut-inspired line of ice cream bars [Ed note: ???], following Boston Cream, Triple Chocolate, and Frosted Strawberry, all released last year. Each bar comes with the requisite hole in the middle of the treat of course to let you know it’s a donut (or to help with that New Year’s resolution to cut down your sugar intake). To get that sweet, sweet coffee flavor, Klondike has added “100% Arabica Colombian coffee” to their “frozen dairy dessert,” which I guess for legal reasons is what they have to call the ice cream in the middle. The square donut then gets coated in dark chocolate and finished off with a white confectionary drizzle.

Per Delish, a PR rep for Klondike states that the Wake Me Up Coffee Donuts will be available at major retailers nationwide this month. It’s maybe a weird time to release an ice cream treat, in the middle of winter when folks are maybe kicking the tires on new lifestyles and eating habits. But hey, I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when that horse is a polar bear.

What would you do for a coffee Klondike bar? I would do literally anything.
