In the wake of devastating wildfires across the wine growing regions of Northern California, America’s wine community is banding together to support those in need. Last week we reported on a few of the ways the drinking public can get involved with wildfire relief efforts, and today there’s a new events series that’s very much worth your time (and attendance, if you’re free).

That would be the work of the Winemakers & Sommeliers For California Wildfire Relief, a group organized by Patrick Cappiello (wine director at Rebelle NYCย and Walnut St. Cafe), Pax Mahle (Pax Wines), and Sara Morgenstern (Bergamot Alley). The triumvirate has teamed up “to rally wine professionals and wine lovers everywhere to support those affected by these terrible fires,” as per the official WSCWR website, in coordination withย CA Wine Strong, Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief, and Napa Valley Community Foundation.

The initial push of their effort takes the form of four lively fundraisers, beginning tonight (October 25th) in Healdsburg, California at Bergamot Alley, followed by an event tomorrow night (October 26th) in San Francisco at Bluxome Street Winery, and Friday night in New York City (October 27th, event sold out) at Corkbuzz. A truly incredible coterie of winemakers and restaurants have teamed up to provide memorable food and drink at these events, with 100% of all proceeds going to benefit fire victims in California.

Tickets for these three events are available here.ย If you’re reading this while located in New York, San Francisco, or up in NorCal wine country, do consider attending.

But that’s not all: a fourth benefit evening has been organized for the night of Monday, October 30th in Los Angeles, organized by local LA wine types Adam Vourvoulis and Josh Rosenstein (Hoxie Spritzer), with support from restaurateur Marc Rose. The event takes place at Rose’s own Genghis Cohenย restaurant (740 N. Fairfax) and tickets are just $25 at the door, with all proceeds headed to WSCWR. Expect delicious California beverages, snacks, raffle, and silent auction fun featuring whaley wines donated by local collectors, signed cookbooks from the likes of chef Kris Yenbamroong (Night + Market), and Alice Waters (Chez Panisse), bespoke market bags from Virgil Normal, plus a special guest or three, and much, much more. If you live in Los Angeles and like wine you should absolutely attend this event.

And hey, if you’re reading this without residing in any of the above event cities, you can get involved just the same. The WSCWR has set up this donation pageย for those looking to make a monetary donation, or interested in donating wine for one of the events. Learn much more at the official WSCWR website and thank you for supporting these events.
