For the second year in a row, the folks at Perth’s Maven Espresso and Five Senses have teamed up with Nanhi Khali, an NGO dedicated to educating schoolgirls in India. Many of the families that receive support from Nanhi Kali are coffee growers in the India’s Araku Valley, home to Dr. Sunalini Menon‘s annual “Gems of Araku“  cupping event.

We spoke with Maven Coffee’s Ronald Ngo, who had this to say on the fundraiser:

Last year we held a fundraising event for our coffee farm in the Araku Valley India   and it was a great success so we are doing it again this year hopefully bigger and better then before. We have created flyers and are distributing these to local businesses and media but it would be really great if we could get the international coffee community to help out.

We have labelled this event again Project Nahni Kahli. Essentially this whole movement is about sending the girls of the coffee farmers to school for a whole year with also a midday meal. We are personally passionate about this fundraiser as we have consistently been buying this coffee for the past 2 years.

This event happens on Saturday, March 30th from 9am-3pm at Maven Espresso (Maine Square, 300 Murray Street, Perth). If you happen to find yourself in the world’s most isolated capital city – or are lucky enough to live there already – you should definitely stop by.
