Coffeed.com is our favorite online coffee forum, and has been for years. The discussions are rich, lively and entertaining; the site is aesthetically pleasing, well-moderated and frequented by a lot of really smart people in the coffee community.
We believe that microblogging in general, and Twitter in particular, have conspired to produce the untimely death Coffeed.com. As it stands, Coffeed is like the great cocktail lounge everyone used to frequent down the block, a regular Algonquin Roundtable of wit, rants, flame wars and insider information. It was great. But now everyone is hitting up to the brand new Boom Boom Room that just opened next door instead, because it’s hot and hip, and everyone can be a celebrity there.
Don’t get us wrong; we love a good Boom Boom Room. But sometimes, you know, it’s Tuesday night, and you just need a classy Martini and a bit of sensible discussion. The kind that won’t fit in 140 characters or less.
Let’s go back to Coffeed. Let’s make it fun again. Here are some suggestions to start:
