Home Brew Kit Giveaway

Education, organization, political change, societal reform: as the historic moment for civil rights catalyzed by police brutality continues, so too does the work of organizations around the United States fighting for equality.

This work requires funding. To that end, a group of respected coffee brands are teaming up to give away three home coffee brew kits, with the proceeds going to organizations furthering the Black Lives Matter cause.

Spearheaded by Acaia, Baratza, and notNeutral, the home coffee brew kit giveaway benefits three important initiatives. Each organization was selected by one of the founding coffee brands, who have each dedicated to match up to $5,000 to their chosen cause. Acaia has selected the Redeemer Center for Life, a non-profit “committed to youth training, attainable housing, and workforce development in the Harrison neighborhood of North Minneapolis.” Baratza has chosen the Equal Justice Initiative, whose mission includes “ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, challenging racial and economic injustice, and protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.” And finally, notNeutral has championed Color of Change, an organization demanding the defunding of police and instead investing in the health and well-being of Black communities.

For the giveaway, the home coffee brew kit has everything you’ll need to get you caffeinated. Each package includes an Acaia Pearl Model S scale in any color as well as a medium dosing cup, a matte white Baratza Encore grinder, a set of two notNeutral Lino mugs, a 32oz Brushed Press P7 donated by Espro, a one-year subscription to Standart donated by the publishing company, and a one-year coffee subscription (one bag per month) to the roaster of your choosing generally paid for by an anonymous donor.

There are seven ways to enter, and you can (and should) utilize them all. All you have to do is make a donation to one of the initiatives mentioned above by following this link. Each donation counts as a new entry, and will be met by dollar-for-dollar matching efforts up to $5,000 offered by Acaia, Baratza, and notNeutral. And for those who don’t have the financial flexibility to make a donation, entries can also be made by sharing the giveaway with a friend or visiting the Instagram accounts of the three organizations, where you can learn more about the important work they are currently undertaking. All Instagram visits and friend referrals need to be made via the link given above in order to count toward the contest. Winners will be chosen at random.

As of publishing, there are currently four days left in the giveaway, more than enough time to be counted at the ballot box with a thoughtful donation or three. For more information or to get involved, visit the home coffee brew kit giveaway’s website.
