advert new rules of coffee now available

Using 700 discarded Nesspresso coffee capsules, Vienna designers Mischer’Traxler were able to power a series of alarm clocks in the window of Nespresso Austria, a temporary display space.

The batteries generate an electrical charge through the interaction of salt water, coffee grounds and aluminum capsules attached to copper wires and housed within glass beakers. While not powerful enough to propel a full-fledged automobile, or even a bicycle, the coffee-based electrical generation is just one way that java is putting some pep into the renewable energy sector.

“One way that java is putting some pep…” ugh.
