Today is May the Fourth, more commonly known the internet over as Star Wars Day. As one of the most beloved movie franchises in the history of beloved things, Star Wars has acolytes all around the world and from every walk of life. Heck, even some (read: a lot) of the coffee community would count themselves among the fanatical. And as is tradition on this High Holiday, Stars Wars fans are cross-pollinating their everyday lives with their favorite movies, which for our little corner of the internet means a lot of coffee crossovers. So we scoured, and we found Star Wars coffee tie-ins…some better than others.
10. Darth Vader Painting Made Using Coffee
Painting with coffee is getting pretty hot and Cypriot (or, person from Cypress) artist Maria A. Aristidou is using the new medium to make one of the best Star Wars Day tie-ins out there. Check out the time-lapse video here.
9. The Light and The Dark By Stone Creek Coffee
We know we already let you in on this hot Star Wars tip, but it’s still hot. The Light and The Dark are two roasts of the same Colombia Los Vascos coffee from Milwaukee’s Stone Creek Coffee. At $8 for a half pound, you might as well get both and pick a side.
8. Millennium Falcon 3D Printable Pour Over by Handground
Star Wars mugs are a thing of the past, thanks to Handground‘s open-sourced Millennium Falcon pour over device the can be made at home, assuming you have a 3D printer, of course. But if you do or you live next to one of those new 3D printer cafes, you can download the plans here.
7. Corvus Coffee’s EveryTrooper Blend
So this isn’t actually real, but it would be a lot cooler if it was. EveryTrooper is a play on Corvus‘ Everyman blend, but with a pretty sweet redesign. The “seasonal Republic blend” doesn’t exist yet, but with packaging that slick, it’s only a matter of time.
6. How To Make a Bantha Blue Milk Latte
We would be remiss to not include our own recipe for Bantha Blue Milk Lattes. It’s cool if you’re not that into Star Wars and don’t get the reference. It’s still a recipe for making a blue latte, which is pretty keen.
5. Unic Tango or R2D2?
We never really saw the resemblance between the single-group Tango and R2D2 until Unic connected the dots for us with this epic May the Fourth tie-in, but now we can’t unsee it. Mums the word for the Unic crew as to whether or not there will be Star Wars-theme Tango with an actual working steam wand light saber.
And of course, there were some Star Wars tie-ins that just fell flat.
4. This guy.
Look at this chucklehead, wearing a Darth Vader mask, drinking some coffee. What a world!
3. The Fourth is not strong with this one…
Crikey!
2. This menu.
These drinks have no relation to the characters whatsoever.
1. But seriously this menu.
Did they even try?
There were varying degrees of success on Star Wars Day, but they were all in good fun and no one got a hand lopped off, so I would say it was pretty successful. And though I was able to go the entire article without saying it, May the Fourth be with you, you nerf herders.
