Equity and empowerment have been arguably been the two most talked about issues in the coffee industry over the past few years. There have been events held nationwide with the aim of bringing together marginalized sectors of the coffee community to discuss issues they face as well as ways to overcome them. On Saturday, March 24th, another such event will take place in San Francisco. Titled Women In Coffee, this event will feature some of the leading voices in the Bay Area, and Sprudge is proud to partner with Fellow and Equator Coffees & Teas in this endeavor.

Taking place at Fellow’s new Mission District showroom, Women In Coffee will include a discussion led by Eileen Rinaldi (founder and CEO of Ritual Coffee Roasters), Helen Russell, (co-founder and CEO of Equator Coffees & Teas), Trish Rothgeb (co-founder, co-CEO, and Director of Coffee at Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters), and Rachel Konte (Chief of Design at Red Bay Coffee Roasters). The discussion will revolve around “the challenges that women in the coffee industry currently face.”

How can we dismantle the old systems which harm women and prevent them from succeeding? What can we do to assure our workplaces are a safe and inclusive space for everyone?

Though this event focuses on issues women in the coffee industry face, it is open to people of all gender-identities and orientations. And for those who don’t live in the Bay Area or are unable to attend, Sprudge will be livecasting on Sprudge Live the entire event in partnership with Fellow and Equator.

Tickets for the event are $15, with the proceeds going to the International Women’s Coffee Alliance, and can be purchased here. Seating is very limited, so get your ticket soon if you plan on attending. It all happens this Saturday, March 24th between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Fellow’s San Francisco showroom.
