Iโve heard of near beer, but near water? Thatโs a new one to me. Well, it exists now thanks to O.Vine, a โwine grape infused waterโ that โcontains the natural ingredients of wine, including its rich aroma and famous benefits, without the alcohol.โ Itโs definitely not just watered down grape juice, if that’s what you’re thinking.
Created by Israeli company Wine Water, the unfortunately named O.Vine (Iโll leave you to make your own jokes about how only sheep would fall for this gimmick. I’m above that sort of thing) is supposed to โspark the memory of wine,โ per their website, but without the boozy kick. The near water comes in a red and a white, made with Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, and Petit Verdot and Reisling and Gewรผrztraminer grapes, respectively.
And though it sounds like one of the lesserโvery, very lesserโmiracles of Jesus of Nazareth, according to their press release, O.Vine is created by โupcycling the excess wine ingredientsโโthe grape seeds and skinsโthat are then steeped in spring water to create this new near-product. This, per the press release, makes in an environmentally friendly product. Kinda like how muffin stumps are maybe environmentally friendly I guess.
O.Vine will come in sparkling and still options and will debut at the Fancy Food Show in New York at the end of June, which does sound pretty fancy. So if youโre looking for something that tastes kinda like wine without alcohol and grape juice just has too much flavor for you, maybe try O.Vine. It could be good. Or maybe itโs baaaaaaaaaโd.
