Sprudge Maps is a global—and we mean global—compendium of coffee bars large and small, near and far, a living wish list of the cafes you’re looking forward to visiting once visiting and traveling becomes a normal thing again. So we are especially excited to be featuring our first Sprudge Maps Spotlight from the city of Geneva, Switzerland. We’ve featured the Swiss culture capital Zurich extensively on the site—in both a coffee and a wine guide—but Geneva is no second runner-up when it comes to great cafes, as The Barista Lab makes abundantly clear. To learn more about the project we spoke digitally with the team at The Barista Lab, who were gracious enough to share some gorgeous photos to help us all travel vicariously to their coffee bar. Introduce yourself to our readers—tell us about your cafe!
We are a specialty coffee shop based in Geneva, founded by two childhood friends. Our goal is to make you discover outstanding flavors with a unique taste through our different coffees and roasters. The quality of our products as well as a warm welcome so that everyone feels at home are our priorities.
What equipment do you use in your shop?
La Marzocco Strada EP
Which roaster or roasters do you serve?
What is the neighborhood like where you’re located? What’s some other cool stuff nearby?
We’re close to the Rhône river, in a neighborhood that features many cafes (including a great vegan cafe) and other coffee shops.
How has Coronavirus impacted daily work at your cafe?
As we are near many offices, the impact has been big. We’ve had to change our opening hours, reduce our staff, and convert to serving only takeaway.
What’s something cool or unique about your cafe you want folks to know?
We’re an eco-friendly cafe that exclusively uses Huskee Cup, and we source all our food products locally. We also offer ibrk-style coffee, brewed using great specialty coffee roasters.
Is there a community organization or charity you’d like to shout-out as part of this feature?
Let’s support a better life for our kids via Enfants du Monde.
