The Caffè regularly collaborates with local chefs to create innovative specialty drinks inspired by flavors from all over the world. In addition to amplifying the talent of these chefs, Mr. Espresso donates ten percent of sales for each of the drinks to Oakland’s Community Kitchens. Since The Caffè opened, this has resulted in over $1,000 given to Community Kitchens to help the organization provide meals for marginalized communities.
For the anniversary celebration, The Caffè will offer one chef collaboration coffee drink every day of the week, with all five available on June 1. There is also an opportunity for customers to taste their way through the drinks with a special Giro di Caffè passport in pursuit of a Mr. Espresso-themed Grand Prize. Finally, The Caffè will offer $1 espresso shots made with Mr. Espresso’s signature Neapolitan Blend every day from Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 1.

Located in downtown Oakland, The Caffè by Mr. Espresso is Oakland-based Mr. Espresso’s first branded retail destination. The Caffè is a nod to both Italian coffee culture and the modern American coffee drinker, featuring Italian-style oakwood roasted coffee in an award-winning space.
Upon entering The Caffè, guests are greeted by a 17-foot-wide wood slab bar crafted out of a centuries-old Valley Oak that was felled by the wind in 2009 then carefully dried for later use. Hanging above the bar is a dramatic wood installation that was created by local design icon jones | haydu and assembled piece by piece. The use of wood throughout The Caffè is an homage to the oak wood that is still used to roast Mr. Espresso beans. The entire space is oriented around the bar, with its coffee equipment and baristas at the center of the action, aligning itself with the Italian style of ordering and drinking coffee while standing at the bar.
In addition to serving typical coffeehouse drinks, The Caffè offers sips of the unexpected, like Nocciola-tte made with hazelnut praliné paste, Butterscotch Latte, Horchata Cold Brew, and the Italian chilled and shaken espresso drink, the Shakerato. An innovator in the coffee industry, The Caffè regularly partners with renowned local and national chefs to collaborate on seasonal, limited-run espresso drinks, pushing the boundaries of the standard coffee menu.
The Caffè by Mr. Espresso is located at 1120 Broadway, Oakland, California, just steps away from 12th Street BART station. Initially, the Caffè is open Monday through Friday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Saturday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, and closed Sunday. More info at thecaffeoak.com.
