On this coming Friday, November 8th, the city of Sydney, Australia will play host to a unique, exciting, and utterly peculiar coffee competition spectacular. It all goes down at the Single Origin Roasters roast works in Botany (28B Cranbrook Street) beginning at 5pm. Tickets to this event are sold out – but you can follow Sprudge on Twitter and Instagram for live coverage of the proceedings from Sydney.
What’s on the table? It’s being billed as a cross between “Whacky Races and The Gong Show“, with a grand prize La Marzocco GS3 awarded to the winner. “This is no ordinary comp”, they claim, and it “features a series of twists & challenges that could see anyone going the distance.” Here’s more from the event’s official listing:
Judges include La Marzocco’s Tom Beaumont, H.A. Bennett’s Fay Kamanis, 4 Pines Head Brewer Andrew Tweddell as well as volunteers from the audience. Food will be catered by the Three Blue Ducks. Door prizes include a Baratza Vario home grinder, kindly supplied by Appliance Maintenance.
Event sponsors include La Marzocco, Six Simple Machines, Cafetto, Biopak, Origin Traders, H.A. Bennett, Three Blue Ducks and 4 Pines Brewery. Again, tickets are well and fully sold out, but look to Sprudge for live coverage on site and recap goodness once the deed’s been done. “Whacky Races meets The Gong Show” – sounds like our kind of scene.
