Being a member of the White House press corps isnโ€™t an easy job. And itโ€™s only getting more difficult now that any news challenging a personโ€™s worldview can be decried as โ€œfake newsโ€ (which the Trumpster himself has called โ€œthe enemy of the peopleโ€) and asking tough questions to the president or the former White House Easter Bunny is on its way to being considered a war crime.

As besieged as the Fourth Estate may be, theyโ€™ve still got at least one friend in high places: a little known actor by the name of Tom Hanks. The star of The Burbs, Bosom Buddies, Dragnet, and probably some movies youโ€™ve never heard of has continued his decade-long practice of keeping White House reporters at peak alertness by gifting them a brand new espresso machine.

According to the Boston Globe, the tradition began in 2004, when Hanks found out the White House pressroom didnโ€™t have a coffee machine. He replaced that machine in 2010 and then again yesterday, with a note stating: โ€œTo the White House Press Corps, Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Especially the Truth part. Tom Hanks.โ€

And Hanksy didnโ€™t just buy $30 espresso machine from a department store. He gifted a single-group Pasquini Livia G4 automatic espresso machine WITH a PID. The going retail price of such a machine is around $2,200, which isnโ€™t too bad of a haul for those lowlifes in the โ€œOpposition Party.โ€

So shout out to Tom Hanks for continuing to be a genuinely good human being, and shout out to you dummies out there that will inevitably say youโ€™re going to boycott his movies because Hanks continued to do what he has done for years, but we all know you arenโ€™t actually going to boycott his movies. The man pretty much only makes big budget hits now.

And Mr. Hanks, we at Sprudge would like to inform you–a fan of the press and presumably a fan of coffeeโ€”that our Rancilio Silvia has fallen into disrepair and is in desperate need of replacement. Maybe a La Marzocco GS/3? Just putting it out there. Loved you in Splash.
