In coffee gear as in life, thereโ€™s beauty in simplicity. Add all the bells and whistles you want, but itโ€™s just hard to beat the understated elegance of a Chemex or v60 brewer. Fewer moving parts means fewer broken pieces. Enter the Pure Over, the brand new all glass pour-over system. Now live on Kickstarter, the Pure Over is functional simplicity at its finest.

Created by Portland-based glass artist Etai Rahmil, the Pure Over has been in the works, designing and prototyping, for two years before finally coming to market. After multiple iterations, the Rahmil and the team at Pure Over ultimately landed on a four-piece design. Sitting atop a white or black ceramic base when not in use is the glass dripper, whose porous glass filter bottom requires no paper filtration, leading to a weightier, more full bodied cup of coffee. And the dripper is compatible with your favorite ย mug. In what is perhaps the coolest feature, a glass diffuser fits neatly on the dripper, allowing water to be poured evenly across the coffee bed at a regulated flow. The fourth piece of the set up is a glass stir stick.

โ€œWhat started as a curiosity around whether glass could innovatively filter coffee, has resulted in a next generation brewer that I believe will become a new staple for at home coffee enthusiasts.โ€ โ€” Etai Rahmil

Going live on Kickstarter today, August 24th, Pure Over blew through its $10,000 goal from over 200 backers in just four short hours. But even still, there are plenty of great rewards to be had. Set to retail at $60, interested parties can get a full four-piece Pure Over set for just $40 via early bird pricing. Or for $55, would-be backers can have receive a signature mug along with their Pure Over set. Per the Kickstarter, rewards are expected to begin delivery in December.
