Even with the coronavirus wave appearing to have crested, we still find ourselves very much in a primarily digital world for the foreseeable future. Thereโs hope that the back half of 2021 will be rife with in-person coffee conferences, but until then, we may as well enjoy the easy access to some of the brightest minds in the global coffee community all convening on our laptops.
And on March 9th, thatโs exactly whatโs happening with High Density. The new all-digital coffee conference created by The Barista League is โa day of panels, workshops, brew-a-longs, and discussions all from the comfort of your home,โ and itโs completely free!
The line-up of speakers for High Density is stacked. With 30 different talks scheduled, the topics covered in the one-day event run the gamut of more traditional coffee con fare, like a talk on sensory awareness from three-time UK Cup Tasters champion Freda Yuan, to the very on-brand for 2020/21 โHow to Make Coffee Cocktails at Homeโ with An Nguyen and Mimo. There will be talks on building a career in coffee, social media, advocacy, activism, green buying, coffee competitions, and just about everything in between.
For those looking to get even more involved, High Density has seven โinteractive experiencesโ folks can choose from. Though the coffee conference is free, the interactive experiences comes with a $7 entry fee and includes a variety of coffees, teas, or alternative milks to drink along with the discussion. For โBrew Like a Champion,โ for instance, attendees will receive 100g roasted by Five Elephant to brew alongside the champion brewers leading the course. For the class with Caravelaโs Aissatou Diallo on buying different quality grades, attendees will received three coffee samples and a cupping spoon to be utilized during the session. Some of the interactive experiences are restricted by continent, so make sure to check out which ones are available to you.
While the vast majority of the events at High Density are free to attend, registration is required. To see a full roster of talks and interactive experiences or to register, visit The Barista League’s official website.
