Getchusomegear, the organization collecting new and used coffee gear to distribute to marginalized coffee professionals, is back with another round of grants. Partnering with Brewista, Getchusomegear is looking for new coffee business owners that hold marginalized identities to give away literal cases of gear needed to outfit a cafe as part of their Getchu a (gear) Grant initiative.

Here’s how it works: the grant is open to US-based applicants (including Puerto Rico), with a focus on folks who have been in business for two year or less or are in the process of starting their coffee business. The grants are open to marginalized people in the coffee industry, with the application noting that those doing “radical community work (in coffee and beyond)” will be moved to the front of the line.

“[The Getchu a (gear) Grant] is especially exciting for us because this year, we’ve seen quite a few gear box recipients break out and start their own coffee businesses. It’s really nice to see our people shine!” Getchusomegear’s Chris McAuley tells Sprudge. “We want to be able to give them a boost whenever we have the resources. The folks at Brewista are also really stoked to be a part of it all. It has been really sweet to build a relationship with them.”

In the application, each business owner will select from a list of items things their business needs, including items like drippers, scales, cupping supplies, kettles, milk pitchers, filters, and serving ware. If their application is approved, they will then receive those items they selected from the list.

Currently, Getchusomegear has space available for 25 grant recipients. The application deadline is Monday, October 11th at 11:59 EST and can be done here. For more information or to apply, visit the Getchu a (gear) Grant application page.
