Green coffee importer Genuine Origin announced today that it will sponsor a booth at Roaster Village in collaboration with the Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity (CCRE) during SCA EXPO this September and October in New Orleans. The initiative will provide exposure and space for Black-owned coffee roasting businesses. The participating roasters will have the opportunity to promote their coffee and their businesses to the industry in one of the most highly trafficked areas of the SCA EXPO.

“Weโ€™re grateful for Genuine Originโ€™s support at this yearโ€™s Expo,” said Phyllis Johnson, Founder of CCRE. “Their support provides Black owned coffee companies visibility, opportunities for networking, education and growth. Our success in building racial equity can only be achieved through joint efforts such as this.”

“We are looking forward to highlighting Black owned roasteries, in order to provide a platform for these businesses to showcase their brands and their coffee at one of the largest gatherings of coffee professionals in the world,” said Matt Daks, member of the Board of Directors for CCRE and Director of Business Development and Trading for Volcafe Specialty Coffee, Genuine Origin’s sister company.

“CCRE’s mission of building a racially diverse and equitable coffee industry aligns perfectly with Genuine Originโ€™s mission to democratize coffee,” commented Robert Sulkow, Genuine Origin’s Digital Marketing Manager. “Through this partnership we hope to provide visibility and support to Black-owned coffee businesses and make specialty coffee roasting more accessible. The booth will also help more industry participants become aware of CCRE’s vital message and mission.”

“Exposure and networking are instrumental in the survival of small businesses,” noted Johnson. “We greatly appreciate the generosity of Genuine Origin in helping us to showcase Black owned coffee companies at this yearโ€™s Expo.”

The Genuine Origin / CCRE Roaster Village booth is open to Black owned coffee roasting businesses. Up to six roasters will be chosen to share space at the booth. Use of the booth will be free to the roasters that CCRE selects for the program, but roasters should be prepared to cover any ancillary costs involved in attending the show such as: transportation; lodging at the show; food; registration, etc. Businesses that wish to get involved should reach out to CCRE as soon as possible.
