The inaugural Flour Market happened last Saturday in the fair town of Melbourne, and boy oh boy was it successful.

What is the Flour Market, you ask? Itโ€™s a unique event curated by Everyday Coffee in collaboration with the extraordinary creative venue Magic Johnston and Open Season, bringing together some of Melbourneโ€™s best boutique bakers and pastry masters in one room to fulfill all of your sweetest dreams.

Highlights were numerous, as you’ll see below, but let’s start with this stunning burger cake by Bakewell & Co.

Ah, but the goods weren’t all meat-shaped. Have a look at this bevy of delicious croissants by Lune Croissanterie, the very first bakery in Melbourne dedicated to the flakey, buttery arts of croissant making:

Or how about some New York style bagels by 5 & Dime?

There were also babkas galore by Danjo, hectic brownies by Freckle, delicious doughnuts by Matt Forbes, vegan delights by Sweet Valentyne, sourdough by Tivoli Road, and inventive icecream and milkshake creations by Shaun Quade.

These lovely bakers and pastry-eaters were fuelled by Everyday Coffeeโ€™s signature batch brew service, with all proceeds from the coffee going to Familia Moja Childrenโ€™s Home โ€“ an orphanage in Kenya thatโ€™s building its own bakery so they can create a successful business and put profits back into the community.

Itโ€™s always a great time when specialty coffee and specialty food come together in the one place, and this event was no exception. I mean, really, where can you go wrong with all of the delicious things in one place? It turns out Melbourne’s baking community is just as vibrant as the coffee scene; the only one left out may have been this adorable bulldog I spotted, seen here waiting semi-patiently outside the event. No table scraps for you, bub.
