SUMMARY:2025 World Barista Championship to Take Place at HostMilano
DESCRIPTION:2025 World Barista Championship to Take Place at HostMilano \nThe world’s premier competitive coffee event — the World Barista Championship — is coming to Milan\, Italy\, taking place at HostMilano\, October 17-21\, 2025. HostMilano\, held at Fiera Milano (Rho)\, is the global epicenter for the Horeca and Food Service industry\, offering an unparalleled platform for innovation\, networking\, and showcasing the latest trends in hospitality. \nThe World Barista Championship (WBC) returns to Milan after last being hosted at HostMilano in 2021. The WBC focuses on promoting excellence in coffee and advancing the barista profession\, with baristas demonstrating their expertise in crafting innovative espresso-based drinks across the espresso\, milk\, and signature beverage courses. Each 15 minute performance is evaluated by Certified Judges on a range of technical and sensory attributes\, and the cutting-edge approaches and tools used on the WBC stage have extensive and enduring impacts on the industry. This highly competitive championship attracts the finest baristas from more than 50 Competition Bodies who will present their skills\, creativity\, and coffee mastery in a bid to claim the coveted title of World Barista Champion. The WBC is one of seven World Coffee Championships — annual skills-based competitions produced by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA)\, and hosted at some of the most important global coffee trade shows. \nHostMilano is the world exhibition dedicated to the catering and hospitality sector; an international hub active all year round that brings professionals together\, constantly monitors all the sector’s supply chains and consumer styles\, presents in-depth analysis of current issues\, best practices\, international scenarios\, produces news and global observatories\, organizes webinars and events all over the world.

SUMMARY:Q Arabica Combo Training and Exam Course
DESCRIPTION:Q Arabica Combo Training and Exam Course \nJoin us for a Q Arabica Combo Training and Exam at The Crown\, located in the midst of Oakland’s vibrant coffee scene. Taught by Evan Gilman\, this course will make you into a highly trained and calibrated coffee taster. This certification is the specialty coffee industry standard\, and can be likened to the wine industry’s Sommelier Exam. \nAbout the Q Arabica Combo Training and Exam \nThis intensive six-day lecture\, practice\, and testing course involves all aspects of grading\, cupping\, and evaluating specialty coffee. \nThe first three days of the course concentrate on theory and practice. The second three days of the course are a full schedule of exams. The range of exams offered will assess all sensorial abilities associated with discerning specialty coffee\, including sensory taste tests\, olfactory tests\, and discrimination and evaluation cuppings. There will also be a general knowledge exam. \nThe Q Arabica Grader Training and Exams six-day course is rigorous\, and consequently some students find it difficult to pass all exam portions the first time through. The final day will allow participants to retake certain tests as needed in hopes of completing the certification. \nWho Should Attend \nThe Q Arabica Grader Training and Exam course is designed to be taken by a broad range of students who may be interested in evaluating coffee quality. \nQ Arabica Grader Training and Exam Course Overview \nThis course consists of two complementary concepts: the first is 3-days of activities based on theory\, followed by a 3-day series of exams regarding the material presented. There are a total of 20 different exams taken during the course. The purpose of the exams is to evaluate the cuppers in their overall cupping skills. The course includes various activities to test the cuppers’ skills in evaluating a coffee in a traditional cupping format: olfactory senses\, green coffee grading\, acid identification\, basic cupping skill evaluations\, sensory skills tests\, and roasted coffee tests. Upon completion of the course\, and with passing grades\, the students may receive a Q Grader certificate\, valid for 36 months. \nRETAKES: \nFor those of you who are retaking a test module at this Q Arabica Combo Training and Exam\, you are welcome to attend the practice session of the module you are retaking so that the material is fresh in your mind. SUMMARY:Rotterdam Coffee Fest
DESCRIPTION:The pilot edition of Rotterdam Coffee Fest is set to take place 11-12 October 2025 in the historic Timmerhuis building in central Rotterdam. Organized by Stichting Coffee Block\, the festival will become the annual headline of Rotterdam’s coffee culture\, uniting professionals\, enthusiasts\, and specialty coffee lovers for a spirited weekend of culture\, community\, and creativity. \nOver two days\, the festival will bring together around 15 local roasters such as A Matter of Concrete\, Manhattan\, Ripsnorter\, Grounded\, Evermore\, and more in a Roaster’s Village\, plus around 15 complementary coffee-adjacent businesses like Espresso Service West\, Nomadschai\, and more in a packed vendor exhibition. The festival also offers curated talks\, workshops\, and panels over topics on city history\, culture\, and social responsibility\, to name a few. Guests will have full access to cuppings and tastings from roasters and green coffee importers\, as well as tea experts\, among others. Brand activations from names like HOKA with a fringe morning run event or Oatly with an engaging festival booth will offer new ways to engage the local coffee community. \nA standout feature of the event is “Rotterdam’s Favorite Café/Roastery 2025” competition\, a playful\, community-driven poll that encourages fans to support their favorite local coffee businesses. Each participating café receives a unique voting link (rotterdamcoffeefest.com/vote) tied to ticket purchases—when community members buy a festival ticket through that link\, it counts as a vote\, while also receiving discounted entry. This initiative strengthens local engagement and helps amplify word-of-mouth enthusiasm across Rotterdam’s diverse coffee neighborhoods. \nThe festival’s mission is to foster an inclusive and energetic environment\, where passion for coffee can flourish on a platform that highlights Rotterdam’s local talent\, tell the city’s stories\, showcase homegrown innovations\, and contribute to community growth year after year. Early bird tickets are available now\, offering reduced entry prices and full access to all scheduled activity.

SUMMARY:Q Arabica Calibration
DESCRIPTION:About the Q Arabica Calibration \nOctober 3rd\, 2025 from 9AM – 5 PM \nCertified Q Arabica Graders must calibrate with each other every three years in order to test their abilities to accurately evaluate coffee quality based on their gained experience\, knowledge\, and standards/protocols learned in Q training.
