SUMMARY:Coffee Canelé Popup at The Caffè by Mr. Espresso
DESCRIPTION:The Caffè by Mr. Espresso in downtown Oakland is hosting a special canelé pop-up with Chef Phil Saneski\, founder of The Canelé Co. \nChef Phil is passionate about canelés and vegetable-inspired pastry techniques. His upcycled and vegetable-inspired recipes have been featured in Bon Appetit\, Travel+Leisure\, and Culinology®  magazines. \n“Beyond making canelés in fine-dining restaurants and bakeries where I worked\, my earliest memories of canelés always revolved around having really good coffee to pair with it. I associate the highest quality coffee with the experience of eating canelés\, which is why we were inspired by The Caffé to make a coffee canelé flight to highlight different roasts and coffee origins by Mr. Espresso\,” said Saneski. “Additionally\, we made Tiger Tea canelés that were inspired by the popular drink at The Caffé\, and added sweet potatoes as our unique twist.” \nThe following canelé flavors will be available at The Caffè during the pop-up: \n\nMr. Espresso canelé flight box of canelés made using three Mr. Espresso coffees: Ethiopia Sulladjah Washed (light roast)\, Tuscan Espresso Blend (medium roast)\, and Organic Dark Roast Guatemala (dark roast). | $16/flight of three\nRed Bell Pepper canelé | $5 each\nUbe canelé | $5 each\nTiger Tea Sweet Potato canelé | $5 each\n\nIn addition\, 10% of the total canelé proceeds will go to Oakland-based Community Kitchens\, which helps provide meals for marginalized communities.

SUMMARY:Hot Stuff Roastery Pop-Up at Café Odessa
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Café Odessa (Montreal) on Sunday\, August 4th for the FIRST Pop-Up of Hot Stuff\, a new lesbian-owned\, Nordic-style roastery. \nHot Stuff (est. 2024) is a new roastery founded by Tanisha Arthur\, coffee expert and co-owner of Café Odessa. After over a decade of experience working for leaders in the field\, coffee consulting (notably and most recently for the expansive Variety Coffee Roasters in New York City)\, and managing then co-owning the Montreal multi-roaster café Odessa\, Arthur launched a project that they’ve been reaching for many years: a roastery devoted to Nordic-style coffee. Axed on coffee education accessibility\, consulting\, and transparent buying practices\, Hot Stuff aims to bridge the knowledge gap between the consumers and purveyors of specialty coffee. \nFrom 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM\, café Odessa will be serving Hot Stuff espresso and filter exclusively. Drinks include standard espresso-based and filter\, as well as cold brew served with the optional cold top (cardamom-infused cold foam). Retail coffee and exclusive merch will also be on sale! \nCafé Odessa is a queer-owned multi-roaster dedicated to providing Montreal with the best selection of light-roast coffee.

SUMMARY:Three New World Coffee Champions Will Be Crowned This Week In Taipei
DESCRIPTION:The calendar is looking pretty full right about now. Thanksgiving is right around the corner\, along with the immediate post-Turkey Day holiday buying frenzy\, but before we go full food coma\, there are three new World Coffee Champions to crown. This weekend in Taiwan the World Coffee in Good Spirits\, World Latte Art Championship\, and World Roasting Championship will descend upon the Taipei International Coffee Show. \nBeginning November 17th\, over 60 national coffee champions from across the globe will make their way to the Taipei World Coffee Championships for their shot at the title. Thousands are expected to be in attendance in person\, with even more following along the livestream\, which can be found on the Taipei World Coffee Championships page. Per the press release\, the livestream schedule is as follows: \nSaturday\, November 18\n12:30pm China Standard Time: World Latte Art\, Round One\n12:30pm CST: World Roasting Championship \nSunday\, November 19\n10:30am CST: World Roasting Championship \nMonday\, November 20\n12:30pm CST: World Roasting Championship\n1:00pm CST: “The Theory of Coffee Value Assessment” with Chad Wang \nThese three events are the last of the 2023 World Coffee Championship season to be crowned\, following World of Coffee Athens in June where the first four event took place. \nSo before we all start looking ahead to 2024\, or the merciful completion of 2023 for that matter\, it’s time to turn our attention to Taipei for one last weekend of riveting coffee competition action. It all takes place November 17th through 20th at the Taipei International Coffee Show. For more information\, to purchase tickets\, or to follow the livestream\, visit the Taipei World Coffee Championships official website. \nZac Cadwalader is the managing editor at Sprudge Media Network and a staff writer based in Dallas. Read more Zac Cadwalader on Sprudge.

SUMMARY:Night Swim Coffee Latte Art Throwdown
DESCRIPTION:Remember fun? Remember latte art throwdowns? They feel like a vestige of a rowdier\, pre-pandemic past\, where you’d throw caution to the wind and crowd into a small cafe to pour a few drinks\, have a few drinks\, and just hang with other members of your local coffee community. Though they have waned in mass popularity\, due in part to questions about waste and whether or not alcohol need be involved in all extracurriculars\, I can’t help but miss the throwdown. \nLuckily\, for the good folks in Charlotte\, Night Swim Coffee is hosting a good old-fashioned latte art competition. The NSC Latte Art Throwdown is coming this Thursday night\, with big prizes to boot\, and sign-ups are open now! \nRemember fun? Remember latte art throwdowns?
