Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee Season Two is well under way (if you haven’t started watching, catch up over at Crackle). So far in the web series’ second season, Jerry Seinfeld has gone on coffee dates with Sarah Silverman, David Letterman, and the “French Jerry Seinfeld” Gad Elmaleh. This week’s episode features the legendary 87-year-old comedian Don Rickles.
If you’re unfamiliar with Don Rickles, well… you’re in for a treat. Mr. Rickles is a national American comedic treasure, whether mercilessly roasting Frank Sinatra, brutally mocking of the Los Angeles Dodgers, stealing the show at Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration, or breaking balls on Regis & Kelly. Like almost everything good about American pop culture, we first learned about him from an early episode of The Simpsons (Episode 9F06, “New Kid on the Block“, 1992).
It’s a delight to watch Jerry Seinfeld sipping coffee with Rickles, who is clearly one of his idols, and still just riotously funny and sharp at 87 years young. Here’s six things we learned about Mr. Warmth in this week’s epsiode:
6. He eats corn flakes for breakfast.
5. You don’t have to be “in the mood” to drink coffee in America.
4. Don takes Sweet n’ Low with his coffee.
3. And with that Sweet n’ Low makes quite a mess.
1. Don kind of looks like a cross between Hans Moleman and the baby from Dinosaurs.
