We’ve been dying with curiosity to hear numbers from Coffee: The Musical. You may remember C:TM from when it was featured (still in Kickstarter form) first by the New York Times.
Coffee: The Musical is still in it’s workshopping phase and recently debuted with a table read at the Coffee & Tea Show in New York (sadly, we were in the other room, covering the NERBC). Robert Galinsky, the creator, talked to the New Yorker about his goals for the performance:
“We’re going to do things differently,” he said as he took another sip of his coffee. “We’re building a cupping, a taste, into the show, at intermission.” He plans to serve coffee from a sponsor, but he doesn’t have one yet. “Intelligentsia, Dunkin Donuts. Small guy to big guy. We’ll see who is interested.” And he has other ideas. “We’ll offer barista champions a walk-on roll in the show. And we’ll do frequent drinker tickets.”
We’d just die if we saw Michael Phillips walk-on and do a soft shoe number. We would just. About. Die.
