โ€œCoffee is about people, and it’s about community and how we sustain and support one another.โ€ This is the theme of tomorrow nightโ€™s โ€œCoffee is Our Connectionโ€ event hosted by Equator Coffees & Teas and Port of Mokha. Taking place at Equatorโ€™s gorgeous LinkedIn cafeย in San Francisco between 6:00 and 8:30pm, the event will feature a panel discussion on the journey of Yemeni coffee as well as an opportunity to purchase some of this very rare coffee.

[Coffee] crosses borders, crosses cultures, crosses boundaries and unfortunately sometimes-messy politics. It is a miracle in your cup that unites the whole world. This story is about one of those miracles.

Included on the panel will be Equatorโ€™s co-founder Brooke McDonnell and Director of Coffee Ted Stachura as well as Port of Mochaโ€™s founder Mokhtar Alkhanshali, who will be sharing his story of โ€œhow he went from coffee enthusiast to a leader in the Yemeni coffee trade.โ€ A Q&A with the audience will follow after the panel discussion.

In addition to the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase Yemeni coffee sourced by Alkhanshali. Depending on the type of ticket purchased, guests will be receive either a four-ounce bag of coffee or a voucher for a brewed cup of Yemeni coffee at an Equator cafe.

Tickets for the event range from $5 for just admission to $60 for admission plus the bag of coffee. Admission plus the voucher is $20. Tickets can be purchased via the Eventbrite page.

Coffee is Our Connection is a unique chance to learn about developing coffee quality at origin as well as creating avenues for export. And itโ€™s also a great opportunity to try a beautiful and rare coffee that most people donโ€™t have access to just yet.
