Breaking today via Sprudge.com’s patented internet coffee news wire–otherwise known as scrolling way back through Twitter–comes a belatedly reported but nonetheless remarkable true story from East London that combines two of our very favorite things: coffee preparation and the author / actor / interview rabble-rouser Russell Brand.

Here, dear friends, is a photo of Russell Brand pulling a shot of espresso at Macintyre Coffee in Hoxton:

Our own Eileen P. Kenny spoke glowingly of Macintyre after a visit there last summer, saying “everything is up for debate at MacIntyre; this is a coffee bar of consideration.” The shop has since become a must-visit for London bound Sprudge editors and London coffee cognoscenti, serving up a fleet of American roasters like HeartDogwoodMadcap and Ceremony, alongside London roasters Workshop and Square Mile.

Russell Brand is a confirmed Macintyre Coffee fan, tweeting this after our feature ran a few weeks back:

Apparently the Macintyre crew is a little worried about Mr. Brand’s career prospects, so they had him come behind the bar in what we can only assume was the beginning of some sort of vocational outreach program:

Russell Brand’s new book, Revolution, is now available worldwide via Amazon. We might also recommend perusing the man’s highly entertaining Youtube channel. much of which is Not Safe For Work, but is safe for having a laugh…and a think.
