slack-imgs.comThe coffee world is abuzz this week as the World Barista Championship, World Brewers Cup Championship and World Of Coffee Dublin events will all take place over the next few days in Ireland. And as much fun as it is to witness live all this world-class coffee talent, it’s only half of the complete WBC experience. The other half, of course, is the partying.

And coffee folk looooove to party.

Hot parties, fun parties, party parties, they’re all gonna be had over in Dublin during the upcoming week, and we here at Sprudge don’t want you to miss a single one. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the week’s hottest, trendiest gatherings for your drinking and fraternizing pleasure. You better loosen up your jitterbug muscles now.

Wednesday, June 22nd

SCAE Welcome Reception
Start the party circuit off right with the kick off party hosted by the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe. Happening at the Round Room at the Mansion House, the good times start at 6:30pm. But be forewarned, this event requires a ticket for entry. €25 will get you two drinks, finger food, and a chance to watch the Ireland vs. Italy Euro’s match with all your closest coffee friends.

Thursday, June 23rd

SCAE Party
This jammer promises “5 Floors of Fun” at the Guinness Storehouse. I don’t know what that means exactly, but maybe that’s part of the intrigue. It starts at 7:00pm and goes until late, which is the alphanumeric equivalent to “???” so you know it’s gonna be raucous. This is also a ticketed event. €50 will get you two drinks, a buffet dinner of traditional Irish food, a U2 cover band, and even bodhran lessons!

World Aeropress Championship
Come watch the world’s best press it out as they try to take home the Aeropress title. Starting at 6:00pm at Wigwam (and partnered with your favorite coffee publication, Sprudge), this is the world’s funnest coffee competition not named the Drunken Brewers Cup or Coffee Throwing Heave-Ho. Spectator tickets are AU$12.50 and should be purchased sooner rather than later because this not-so-quiet little get together always fills up fast.

E71 Super Sound Party
Want to party but not leave the World Coffee Event? Faema has you covered. In honor of the release of their new E71 espresso machine, they are holding a little shindig at their booth (E12/F13) at the World Of Coffee that is described as “a unique blend of coffee sounds and hi-tech harmonies powered by Deejay Sabri GI.” Everything gets started at 3:30pm with a Silent Disco DJ set followed by live music and a buffet at 5:00pm. The good vibes are strong with this one.

World Coffee Throwing Championship
The coffee bags will blot out the sun at the second annual World Coffee Throwing Championship. Hosted by Tamper Tantrum, the WCTC will start at 6:30pm at The Bernard Shaw in Dublin. And the best part is, the event is free to spectate, but you should still reserve your spot by going here because this is another heavily attended event. Keep your head on a swivel out there lest you get brained by a kilo of coffee.

Dublin House Party
Who doesn’t love a house party? Some of the best times (that I’m able to remember) happened at some random residence, and I can’t see why this would be any different. This collaboration is a Beyond the Bean/La Marzocco/Barista Magazine/Reg Barber joint and starts at 8:00pm at House Dublin. Food, drinks, and dancing are sure to happen, so swing by stands G12 or C24 to snag your tickets while you’re visiting the showroom floor.

Bourbon & Bourbon @ Bourbon
The name says it all. Bourbon (bur-been) and Bourbon (Bur-bone) going down at the Odeon Bourbon Bar at 6:00pm. Brought to you proudly by Café Imports and Sprudge, Bourbon & Bourbon will feature the stylings of DJ Sprudge who, if I may play favorites for a second, always bring that hot fire when he’s on the scene. I’m personally hoping for a few Dirty Souf (with an F, dammit) trunk rattlers to really set it off right.

Saturday, June 25th

Afterparty Pre-party
If I’ve got the math right, the Afterparty pre-party is THE PARTY. The pre-afterparty is hosted by La Marzocco and gets going at 4:00pm just outside the Expo Center at Paddy Cullen’s Pub. It’s the last night in town, might as well tie a few on before the party even gets started.

Official WBC Afterparty
This is it. The last hurrah, and it’s going to be load of “tropical fun,” if the invite is to be believed. “Show-stoppingly garish shirts” are not only allowed but encouraged at the Vicar Street Music Venue hosting the WBC afterparty. €25 will earn you two drinks, food and DJs spinning a mix of soul, funk, hip-hop, and disco. It all gets started at 7:30pm and promised to go into the wee hours of Sunday morning. Flying home hung over isn’t the worst thing in the world. Right?

We’ll be updating this list as we hear about more parties, so stay tuned…
