Starbucks said Thursday it will close a 130-worker call center at its Seattle headquarters and rely on an outside company in Albuquerque, N.M., to handle customer feedback.

The move will be completed by September, affecting 78 Starbucks employees and 52 contract workers in Seattle.

Sitel, of Nashville, Tenn., a privately held customer-service provider with operations in 27 countries, will then take calls for Starbucks at its Albuquerque operation.

From the Financial Times.com – Former child star Sara Gilbert offers us an oddly personal take on regional starbucks price increases. You may remember Sara Gilbert from her role as “Darlene”, the moody, sullen Daria-template middle child on the once-popular television sitcom “Roseanne“. She was also briefly in “High Fidelity“, and had a memorable role as Bart’s first love in The Simpsons episode 9F06, “New Kid on the Block”. We’re glad to see she’s still working, albeit in a lesser capacity as coffee correspondent for the Financial Times.
