We’re really, really excited to be heading to San Francisco in just a few short hours, to prep for Cupping California – a celebration of coffees from across the Golden State, happening this Thursday, August 9th, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Fine Californian roasters from the deserts to the North Bay have signed up to contribute coffees, and we’re confident that the cupping table(s) will be an absolute treat to slurp though. Check it out on Facebook and read on for more info.

Tickets:ย

Cupping California is not a ticketed event, but a ticket to the museum itself is required to access the stunning rooftop garden where the event is being held. Our hosts Blue Bottle Coffee Roasters have graciously provided a quantity of free museum admission tickets, which will be made available to the public at the MoMA main entrance information desk [151 Third Street], starting at 5:30 PM on the evening of the event. Once these complimentary general admission tickets are gone, admission to the museum is still absolutely available – Thursday night tickets to SF MoMA run a slim $9.

Again, Cupping California is not a ticketed event – early arrivals the night of the event can snag free tickets from us, but everyone is welcome to join us upstairs without any sort of separate entry fee.

Details:

Our party goes from 6 pm to 9 pm, at which point the Museum of Modern Art will close. The whole museum is open until 9, so you should definitely take the time to stroll around and check out a bunch of exhibits. We’ll be disc jockeying a little funk and disco in the upstairs garden later in the evening after we get to a chance to try all the coffees (duh).

During the event, guests can take advantage of a 20% off sale on select notNeutral merchandise in the MoMA’s retail shop. There’s also going to be a few HG-One Hand Grinder prototypes on hand for you to handle hands-on. Later in the evening all are welcome to join us for a nice glass of wine nearby at Terroir (1116 Folsom Street), because ya know if you’re gonna do a California theme night, why not keep it rolling?

Sponsors:

We’re able to offer free entry to this party because our sponsors are awesome.

Cupping California is being made possible by a small and diverse group, including hosts Blue Bottle Coffee Roasters (Oakland), water tower and batch brewing logistics by Wilbur Curtis Co. (LA), a gorgeous set of one hundred (100) 5oz cups from notNeutral (LA / Palm Springs), and on-site cupping support and tools from Sweet Maria’s (Oakland). Guests may well have the chance to take home a some sweet party favors…
