If you’ve never been before, Astoria is located at the mouth of the Columbia River and right across the border with Washington State, around an hour and a half from Portland, and 2 hours or so from Oympia. The city is positively gorgeous, and is a popular “let’s get out of town” romantic spot for Portlanders and people from around the Pacific Northwest. It’s home to dozens of candy-striped turn of the century Victorian houses, a handful of exceptional restaurants (especially Ann and Tony Kishchner’s BRIDGEwater Bistro and the Columbian Cafe), and of course, the hillside family home where they filmed much of the first 45 minutes of “Goonies”.

We hope someone awesome buys this cafe. Perhaps its best feature is location, nestled adjacent to the lobby of The Commodore Hotel. This property first opened in the 1920s, and has now been lovingly re-designed to be a sort of “Ace Hotel by the sea”, except less expensive and without the plethora of in-room fun stuff you get at The Ace. The Commodore is super cute and affordable and has picturesque views of the river, so please, one of you should buy the cool cafe downstairs so we can keep drinking nice coffee in the mornings when we go stay there. You should also continue baking those almond frosted bear claws.
