Here we are. 2024. New year, new you. And for many, that means forging the best versions of themselves. Maybe you have resolved to dry out for the month of January, or maybe youโ€™re definitely going to put that gym membership to good use this time. Or perhaps your goal for 2024 is to make better coffee. For that, youโ€™ll need Good Form, a new coffee education platform from industry veterans Trish Rothgeb (Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters) and Dan Streetman (Bird and Bear Coffee Roasters).

Announced yesterday, January 3rd, the pair of Bay Area coffee pros combine for nearly six decades worth of experience, many of them as educators. Now, they are sharing their vast knowledge with coffee professionals and enthusiasts alike with an all-new lineup of educational content.

โ€œโ€™Good Formโ€™ refers to the outcomes we want learners to aspire to. It could mean anything from a complete and effective professional cupping form report to the form of a nice heart on the top of a cappuccino from your home espresso machineโ€ โ€“ Dan Streetman

For their first course list, Good Form is offering three different curricula to choose from. Thereโ€™s a Pour-Over Brewing class that will cover the โ€œoptimal ratio, dose, and turbulence for making the perfect cup of coffee every time.โ€ Thereโ€™s also the Home Barista and Latte Art class, discussing the skills and techniques needed for espresso preparation, milk steaming, and latte art.

โ€œDan and I share a common vision as educators in coffee to bring more and better coffee information to the Bay. It occurred to us that we should team up to make that happenโ€ โ€“ Trish Rothgeb

Finally, thereโ€™s the Q Arabica Combo Course. Taking place in February at The Crown, Royal Coffeeโ€™s cafe and training space in Oakland, the six-day training course โ€œis a comprehensive program that covers all aspects of grading, cupping, and evaluating specialty coffee.โ€ Taught by Rothgeb, who has previously been an instructor with the Coffee Quality Institute, the entity behind the Q exam, the first three days are dedicated to the sensory skills needed to pass the Q, with the final three focus on the exams one must pass to become a Q grader.

So if 2024 you is looking to level up the coffee game of 2023 you, Good Form Coffee may be just what you need. For more information or to sign up for one of their classes, visit Good Form’s official website.
