Schlock of the Week: “I Know It Was You, Alfredo. You Broke My Heart”
From Emi Schenkelback, Israeli designer and candidate for Sprudge.com’s 2010 “Favorite Name In Coffee”, we bring you the Alfredo.
It sort of looks like something Paul Reiser should have been drinking out of during the first 20 minutes of “Aliens“. This design concept forces you to doublefist the cup in order to properly consume the beverage; Alfredo demands a forceful, provocative consumption imperative from the user. You thought you were just drinking a cup of coffee? In Emi Schenkelback’s world, that coffee consumes you right back; your beverage knows you, has fused with you, and will always be a part of you. Wrap your hands around this white walnut space egg and never, never let it go.

Looks like two pieces to me: the acorn shaped cup inserts into the egg shaped plate. Notice the indentation in the plate under the cup, like a tea set or trad. Italian plate. OK,… So I stared at that picture way to long. I think it went magic eye on me there for a second.
