Liz Clayton’s writing portfolio includes work for Time Out New York, the New York Observer, Serious Eats, Edibles both Manhattan and Brooklyn, the Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Yo La Tengo Gazette, CMJ New Music Monthly, Chickfactor, Can’t Stop the Bleeding and her ownย twitchy.org. As a photographer she’s worked with a wide variety of coffee companies, musical acts such asย Yo La Tengo and The Scene is Now, and countless live bands as documented atย slowshutter.org.

As we grow our crew of paid contributing writers, Liz Clayton steps into an editorial role uniquely equipped. Her work as a coffee journalist predates the existence of this website, and indeed, was one of the original inspirations for Sprudge. First an early supporter, then a collaborator, Liz Clayton’s keen eye for news and dogged determination to help build up the craft of coffee writing have become an important part of our overall voice. Bringing her on as an editor gives us the ability to better nurture this publication’s global network of contributors, in keeping with our goal of making Sprudge a home for some of the very best coffee writing in the world.

As a features writer for Sprudge, Liz Clayton has reported on a wide variety of topics, from a coffee roasting pop-up in the California desert to a working guide to the best coffee bars in Portland, Maineย to an inside look at a brand transition in Milwaukee. She’s also provided all manner of reporting from New York City, including features on the bonkers Whole Foods coffee set-up in Brooklyn, the very best coffee at Grand Central Terminal, and a cafe destined for NYT Dining glory in the East Village. And for three consecutive seasons she’s served as our Reluctant Party Correspondent at SCAA Events in Portland, Boston, and Seattle.

Liz Clayton will continue reporting on New York City and beyond for Sprudge, from her base of operations in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. She joins an editorial staff that includes Alex Bernson and Sprudge.com’s co-founders, Jordan Michelman and Zachary Carlsen. Want to get in touch with us?
