Sprudge readers outside of the United States (or stuck in the East/West Coast power dichotomy) might be wondering, “Huh? You’re throwing a party in St. Louis, and featuring a bunch of roasters from Missouri?” The answer is yes, we are. Far from being flyover country, Missouri’s two main metropolises–Kansas City and St. Louis–are home to some of the best coffee roasters and coffee bars in the United States, and have a proud history of success at barista competitions around the world. We’ve featured many Missouri roasters at past Sprudge events, and we’re excited to spotlight fine roasters from across the Show Me State at our cupping table in the Lou, curated by the team at Blueprint. Expect plenty of fly Central American coffees here in central America.

The cupping party happens on Friday, July 18th beginning at 8pm at Blueprint Coffee (6225 Delmar). Guests will be treated to light snacks, drinks, cupping tunes courtesy of DJ Sprudge, and the premiere of a short documentary film about Blueprint produced by St. Louis artist Andy Koh. This event is free, and open to the public. We may or may not be playing a bunch of Nelly, so you may or may not be advised to come in your fresh Air Force Ones.

On Saturday, July 19th we’re teaming up with noted St. Louis chef Michael Randolph–owner of The Good Pie, Little Country Gentleman (RIP), and Half & Half–for a multi-course brunch extravaganza featuring exquisite coffee pairings prepared by Blueprint. This event happens at The Good Pie (6665 Delmar) beginning at 11am. Just 12 seats are available for public purchase, with a ticket price of $60 per guest. Make your reservations by phoning Blueprint Coffee (314-266-6808) or visiting the shop in person (at 6225 Delmar) and making a $15 deposit.

We’ll see you in the Lou on starting Friday, July 18th, and are now seeking Provel cheese pizza suggestions via Twitter.
