Our friends and partners at Intelligentsia are this yearโs title sponsorship for the Prairie State Cycling Series, with the series now called The Intelligentsia Cup. The series takes place July 12 โ 21 in eight cities across Wisconsin and Illinois,ย and is part of USA Cycling’sย National Criterium Calendarย (NCC).
Aside for being a major event for US competition cyclists, the Intelligenstia Cup is also a benefit for World Bicycle Relief, “a nonprofit organization transforming individuals and their communities through The Power of Bicycles.” WBR’s main focus is on the design and manufacture of bicycles equipped to handle African terrain; you could well see bikes funded by the Intelligentsia Cup helping farmers in Kenya or Rwanda deliver coffee cherries to collection sites and washing stations.
In conjunction with this event, Intelli are donating $2 from every bag of their Yirgacheffe Ethiopiaย to World Bicycle Relief, beginning today, July 8th, and running until July 21st. The bike race event scheduled for July 13th will run right past the Intelli roast works in urban Chicago, and the roaster will be rolling out the red carpet on race day with food, drink, viewing areas and of course a full coffee bar service. This is a 100% public event that is free to attend.
