Breaking here on Sprudge.com, Oakland-based roaster / retailer Blue Bottle Coffee are set to open a new Los Angeles outpost, to be located at 1103 Abbot Kinney Boulevard in LA’s technicolor Venice neighborhood. The cafe’s specs sit at 650 square feet, and will feature a roll-up garage door similar to Blue Bottle’s Hayes Valley kiosk in San Francisco. The new cafe will serve single origins and blends as drip, as well as a TBD espresso blend and single origin iced coffees. Blue Bottle’s popular New Orleans-style iced coffee will also be on offer.

This is actually Blue Bottle’s second lease signed in the Southlands. The first was reported back in June by Eater LA editor / increasingly infamous reality TV starlette Kat Odell, and will be housed in a “1,000 square foot auto dealership from the 1960s” at LA’s new Platform shopping & dining complex in Culver City’s Hayden Tract. The space in Culver City will house a Blue Bottle roasteryย was incorrectly reported by Eater to be housing a roastery, but will in fact be a cafe and tasting room Platform sounds awesome, by the way; the project is still very much in development, but folks like Melbourne’s wonderful skin care purveyors Aesop have signed on, and there’ll be a rooftop restaurant from Altamarea Group‘s Michael White.

As for their Venice cafe, Blue Bottle told us they’d be keeping things simple and elegant, while drawing inspiration from the man Abbot Kinney himself. Look for Blue Bottle’s new Abbott Kinney location in Spring 2014.
